Strengthening Industry-Education Integration between China and Finland, Expanding New Channels for International Cooperation – Kalmar Visits Shanghai Maritime University

On April 10th, 2025, Marika Ahola, Human Resources Vice President of Kalmar's Finnish Headquarters visited Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) along with her delegation. Chairman of the Shanghai Maritime University Council, Song Baoru welcomed the guests.

Song Baoru introduced the university's history, development characteristics and international cooperation efforts. He pointed out that the university's research teams focus on areas such as smart port operations and management, port and shipping logistics systems, advanced logistics equipment management, ship communication and navigation and international maritime regulations, providing strong support for the development of the global shipping, port and logistics industries. He emphasized that the university’s talent cultivation aligns closely with the needs of Kalmar, and expressed hope for further collaboration in talent development, scientific research, innovation, and student employment, aiming for mutual empowerment.

Marika Ahola thanked the university for the warm reception and introduced Kalmar’s corporate culture, achievements and strategic layout in its core business areas. She expressed that Kalmar values the communication and cooperation with the university and expressed hope to expand their cooperation in talent development, industry-university-research collaboration, and student internships and employment, striving for mutual benefits and a win-win situation.

After the meeting, Marika Ahola and her delegation visited SMU’s history museum.

The Human Resources Director of Kalmar’s China Headquarters accompanied the delegation. Representatives from the university's International Office, International Education College, Logistics Engineering College, as well as heads of relevant departments and faculty members participated in the meeting.
