On November 28, the 2019 SMU-NYK Prize Award Ceremony was held at Shanghai Maritime University(SMU). Mr. Hiroyasu Takaizumi, Chief Representative for China of NYK, Mr. Tanaka Tatsuhiko, Deputy General Manager of East Asia Management Office of NYK, Ms. Zhang Yating, Manager of East Asia Management Office of NYK, Mr. Shi Xin, Vice President of SMU and Heads of relevant departments from SMU attended the ceremony.
Vice President Shi Xin said that over 110 years of development, SMU has grown into a maritime university with global influence. The development of SMU is inseparable from the close cooperation with the shipping industry. Nowadays, the global shipping industry has a strong demand for high-level shipping talents. NYK has provide support to the cultivation of SMU’s talents training, Mr. Shi Xin hoped that students could further strengthen their theoretical knowledge and improve the competitiveness.
Mr. Hiroyasu Takaizumi said that there is a long cooperation history between NYK and SMU. Many outstanding graduates from SMU are working in NYK China. He also introduced NYK Line’s history, business scope, corporate philosophy, company scale and public welfare activities.
