On October 23, the Foremost Group’s ship naming ceremony of "Hong Mei" was held in Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipyard. (SWS). Mr. Sun Wei, Vice President of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, Mr. Wang Qi, Chairman of SWS, Mr. Francis McDonald, President of Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Mr. Song Baoru, Secretary of the CPC SMU Committee attended the ceremony. Secretary Song had a cordial talk with Dr. James S.C. Chao, the founder of the Foremost Group and Ms. Zhao Anji, the chairperson of the Foremost Group.
As an alumna of Wusong Merchant Marine College, Dr. Chao has always paid close attention to the development of SMU. He donated funds to support the construction of Mulan Ship-handling Simulation Center, set up the Mulan Education Foundation and carried out long-term cooperation with Yuhai Shipping Company. The Captain, the Chief Engineer and other ship management personals of "Hong Mei" were also appointed by Yuhai.
After the naming ceremony, the delegation headed by Secretary Song Baoru visited the ship accompanied by the Captain and the Chief Engineer.
