Delegations Led by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Visited SMU

On July 6th, 36 delegations led by MPA paid a visit to SMU. President Huang Youfang and Vice-president Shi Xin met with the guests. Related heads from College of Transport & Communication, Offshore Engineering Research Institute and the President's Office attended the meeting together.

 

On behalf of SMU, President Huang extended his welcome to the guests from MPA. He said that SMU is a multi-disciplinary university featuring shipping, logistics and ocean. The construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center, the construction of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the Initiative of the Belt and Road provides a good opportunity for the development of SMU. SMU hopes to cooperate with Singapore maritime and port circles to promote the common development of both sides.

 

Richard Lim, the Consultant of the new Port Steering Committee of MPA, delivered a speech on behalf of the delegation and thanked SMU for the warm reception. He said the delegations were from Singapore government, port companies, universities, scientific research institutions and so on. The purpose of this visit is to learn the new technologies used and the new developments in shipping and ports of Shanghai. The delegation hoped to carry out in-depth exchanges and cooperation with SMU, who has cultivated a large number of talents in shipping, port & logistics and other areas.

 

Vice-president Shi Xin briefly introduced the running of SMU and the head from the Offshore Engineering Research Institute briefed the guests on the scientific research carried out by the Institute.
