On March 25, Mr. Choi Moon-soon, Governor of Gangwon Province of South Korea, Lee Joo-i, General Director of Tourism Department of Gangwon Province and other 18 guests visited SMU. Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, Mr. Xiao Jiabao, Vice President of SMU and relevant heads from School of Economics & Management and International Office met the guests.
Prof. Huang Youfang delivered a welcome speech. He said”SMU have signed memorandum with relevant institutes of Gangwon Province, hoping the visit will bring new opportunities to both sides. Since China and South Korea have signed free trade agreement, the two sides will further deepen cooperation in the field of humanities and education. SMU and Gangwon Province have a wide range of cooperation space and SMU is willing to as well as capable of offering talents to the development of cruise industry of Gangwon Province.”
Mr. Xiao Jiabao said he visited Gangwon Province in 2013 and had a friendly communication with Mr. Choi Moon-soon as well as reached a consensus on a number of cooperation. He also hoped to promote cooperation in the field of Ocean, Cruise Tourism, etc on the basis of previous cooperation.
Mr. Choi Moon-soon thanked SMU for the warm reception. He hoped the two sides would have deeper and broader cooperation. Since SMU had the advantages of Logistics Management and Cruise Management, he hoped to get support from SMU in such fields.
After the meeting, accompanied by Mr. Xiao Jiabao, Mr. Choi Moon-soon visited Marine Simulator, SMU History Museum and COSCO Library.
