During December 22 to 23, Rear Admiral Mr. Baten, President of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMR Maritime University), Ms. Laila Arzu Mand Banu from the Ministry of Education of Bangladesh and other 4 guests visited SMU. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU, and heads from International Office and International Education College met with the guests.
Prof. Jin Yongxing warmly welcomed Mr. Baten, who aimed to learn from SMU’s campus construction and programmes through this visit. Prof. Jin introduced the recent developments of SMU, saying that SMU can serve as an example in campus construction, discipline development and students cultivation to BSMR Maritime University.
Mr. Baten introduced that BSMR Maritime University was the first maritime university in Bangladesh, which was named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first President of Bangladesh & the founding father of the nation. He said, as one of best maritime universities worldwide, SMU had strong disciplines, and his delegation could learn much experience from SMU. He also thanked SMU for its reception and experience sharing, hoping SMU to support the development of BSMR Maritime University in the future.
The delegation had an in-depth learning of SMU’s administrative departments, discipline and specialty construction, staff employment, campus construction etc. They also paid a visit to the Marine Simulator, COSTAMARE Engine Room Integrated Laboratory, Aquatic Training Center and COSCO Library.
