On December 8, the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding between SMU and Caribbean Maritime Institute (CMI) was held at SMU. Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, and Dr. Fritz Hire Augustus Pinnock, Executive Director of CMI, signed the Memorandum Understanding on behalf of the two sides.
Before the ceremony, Prof. Huang Youfang and Prof. Jin Yongxing met with Dr. Pinnock. Prof. Huang Youfang said SMU would like to cooperate with CMI which was an important maritime education college in Caribbean region. He hoped to deepen the collaboration between the two sides by virtue of the Memorandum of Understanding as the Chinese embassy in Jamaica also attached much attention to the cooperation.
Dr. Pinnock thanked for the invitation and briefed the history and recent developments of CMI.
Established in 1980, CMI has been cultivating high-level talents for shipping industry in the Caribbean region. It encompasses programmes such as Supply Chain Management, International Shipping, Cruise Ship Management, etc. CMI is the first sister college of SMU in the Caribbean region.
