On December 3, “The Requirements and Writing Skills for Papers Published on Top International Journals” seminar was held at Conference Room 128, Administrative Building of SMU. Mr. Nick Campbell, Director of Nature Publishing Group (China) & Executive Editor of the journal Nature, and Dr. Peng Huisheng, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars & Cheung Kong Scholar Special-Term Professor, were invited as keynote speakers. About 200 people attended the seminar, including SMU’s key discipline innovation teams, scientific research faculty and graduate students.
Mr. Nick Campbell introduced the access to Nature journal and Nature Communications journal in China, how to publish papers in Nature and other top journals and the factors which researchers should consider when publish papers.
Prof. Peng Huisheng, by comparing the scientific research atmosphere at China and abroad, proposed the conception of returning to the nature of scientific research and enjoying it. Meanwhile, he also had an in-depth discussion with participators concerning the steps and experience of contributing papers to international journals according to his own experience of publishing papers on Nature Nanotechnology and other top journals.
In order to promote the internationalization of SMU key disciplines and scientific research, SMU takes a series of measures to advance the international scientific research cooperation. This seminar is one of the major measures which greatly benefit teachers and students in their research.
Before the seminar, Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, Prof. Kong Fancun, Vice President of SMU, and head from International Office had a meeting with Mr. Nick Campbell. The two sides hoped to enhance cooperation.
