On the afternoon of November 19, Prof. Liu Rongfang’s Guest Professor Appointment Ceremony was held at Academic Hall of College of Transport & Communications. Prof. Liu Rongfang from Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, New Jersey Institute of Technology was appointed as guest professor of SMU. Ms. Men Yanping, Deputy Secretary of SMU University Council, heads from College of Transport & Communications and about 200 teachers and students attended the ceremony.
Ms. Men Yanping conferred the letter of appointment to Prof. Liu Rongfang.
Afterwards, Prof. Liu Rongfang gave a lecture entitled New Paradigm: Intelligent Transportation System, introducing the development of intelligent transportation system, illustrating the possible application of intelligent transportation system in future transportation planning and its effect on humans’ driving behaviors, transportation mode and even lifestyle.
Prof. Liu Rongfang has extensive experience in the field of travel demand forecasting and simulation modeling, intermodal transportation planning and engineering, urban and regional planning, environmental impact and major investment studies. She is also one of the early initiators of academic exchanges between China and America on transportation planning, urban planning and land utilization.
