On September 30, the Presentation Ceremony of 2014 Shanghai Magnolia Gold Award was held in Shanghai Municipal Government. Recommended by SMU, Mr. Jan van der Borght, visiting Prof. of SMU and the representative of the port of Antwerp in Shanghai, was presented with the “Magnolia Gold Award. Mr. Yang Xiong, Mayor of Shanghai, presented the medals and certificates to the 9 award winners. Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, and heads from relevant departments also attended the ceremony.
Mr. Jan van der Borght has been in the logistics industry for almost 30 years, and he was General Manager of Royal Vopak and Vice President of Royal Burger Group before serving as Chief Representative of Antwerp Port in China since 2008, and becoming a visiting Prof. of SMU in December, 2012.
“Magnolia Gold Award” is honored by Shanghai Municipal Government annually to foreign nationals who have made great contribution to the economic construction and social development of Shanghai. Since the first award ceremony in 1993, 278 foreign nationals have achieved such laurels.
