Mr. Andrew Clifton, General Manager of SIGTTO (Society of International Gas Tanker & Terminal Operator Ltd), visited SMU recently. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU, relevant heads and teacher representatives from International Office, Continuing Education College, and Merchant Marine College, gave the guest a warm reception. The two sides exchanged opinions on issues concerning gas tanker transportation.
Prof. Jin Yongxing briefly introduced SMU. He said, “As an emerging field of marine transport, gas tanker transportation is developing dramatically. As one of the advisory bodies for International Maritime Organization, SIGTTO has made great contribution on standard-setting and industry guidance of gas tanker transportation since its establishment. SMU expects to enhance exchanges and cooperation with SIGTTO and contribute more to the development of international gas tanker transportation.”
Mr. Andrew Clifton briefed the development of SIGTTO, inviting SMU teachers to attend SIGTTO Asia Pacific seminar which will soon be held in Shanghai. He spoke highly of SMU’s beautiful campus and well-equipped teaching facilities, wishing to report this visit in SIGTTO Newsletter.
Founded in 1979, SIGTTO became one of the advisory bodies for International Maritime Organization in 1982, and now has nearly 200 member enterprises, covering nearly 100% LNG and 50% LPG shipping industry.
