On July 3, led by Associate Prof. Guo Junliang from NTOU, 10 students from Department of Merchant Marine and Department of Marine Engineering, NTOU (National Taiwan Ocean University), came to SMU to have their navigation practice on “Yufeng” ship, the training ship of SMU.
This navigation practice proceeded smoothly with the support and coordination of SMU heads, the Office of Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs, and Yuhai Shipping Company. During the navigation practice, students from NTOU and SMU will jointly practice ship navigation, ship management, fire drill, etc., and acquire knowledge of the ports that they would visit.
It’s the first time for students from Taiwan to come to SMU for navigation practice, which is a new progress for cross-straits cooperation on shipping education, and opens a new window for the youth to enhance communication and understanding.
