Prof. Jin Yongxing delivered a welcome speech. He said that SMU had carried out many cooperative programs with University of Plymouth, which provided teachers and students from both sides with many opportunities for conversation. Last year teachers and students from University of Plymouth participated in the summer school program and gave very good feedback. In addition, Prof. Jin Yongxing encouraged the international students to not only learn more about Chinese traditional culture and its recent developments but also enhance communication with SMU students as ambassadors for friendship.

Mr. Mike Pengelly reviewed the cooperation with SMU and thanked SMU for its elaborate preparation and arrangement.

This summer school program will last for one month. The program mainly includes courses on Chinese language, and lectures on Chinese culture and tradition, Chinese economy, Chinese society and Chinese legal system, which will be given by professors from SMU. Meanwhile, international students would also have cultural activities in their extra-curricular time.
