On June 6, Accra, Ghana time, the unveiling ceremony of Shanghai Maritime University Africa Regional Center was held at Regional Maritime University (RMU). Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, and Prof. Turkson, President of RMU, jointly unveiled the center. Heads from International Office, International Education College and College of Transport & Communications of SMU, Prof. Wang Xuefeng and other teacher representatives from SMU, together with teacher and student representatives from RMU attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Prof. Huang Youfang said that the Center was founded on the basis of successful cooperation between SMU and RMU. It is the first overseas center founded by SMU, which aims to enhance the cooperation between SMU and RMU, and promote the mutual understanding and friendship between SMU and relevant institutions of Central and West Africa and even the whole Africa. Apart from the existing Bachelor of Science program in Logistics Management, SMU would launch more exchange and cooperation programs in Africa, and cultivate more talents in shipping industry and logistics for the development of African shipping and logistics industry.
