The Opening Ceremony of the 5th Danish Class on Engine Watchkeeping, Tanker Familiarization & Ship Security Held at SMU

On the morning of May 12, the opening ceremony of the 5th Danish Class on Engine Watchkeeping, Tanker Familiarization & Ship Security was held at SMU. Mr. Poul Wathne and Mr. Casper M. Andersen, teachers from Copenhagen School of Marine Engineering and Technology Management, 28 students from Copenhagen School of Marine Engineering and Technology Management, heads from the International Office and Merchant Marine College of SMU, SMU teachers and student representatives attended the ceremony.

Prof. Hu Qinyou, Associate Dean of Merchant Marine College, SMU, addressed the ceremony. In his speech, he reviewed SMU’s cooperation with Copenhagen School of Marine Engineering and Technology Management and Danish shipping enterprises. Mr. Zeng Xiangming, Deputy Director of Marine Engineering Program, Merchant Marine College, introduced the training schedule to Danish students.

Mr. Poul Wathne thanked SMU for its investment to the training program, wishing to further enhance mutual cooperation and welcoming SMU students who will go to Danmark for summer training program this year.

In addition to Training, SMU would also organize cultural activities and sports events for the Danish students and SMU students to deepen the mutual understanding between the youth from both countries.
