On May 7th, the COSCO Library South Square of Lingang Campus became a “Mini World Expo” where teachers and students, including more than 200 international students from nearly 40 countries, gathered for the 6th International Day.
Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU, on behalf of the school, delivered a warm speech. He congratulated the opening of the 6th International Day and gave a warm welcome to all the students and teachers participating in it. He pointed out that a great progress had been made in international education in recent years, which is an important part of the construction of a high-level maritime university. The International Day had been successfully held for six sessions and had become a platform for students to promote communication, enhance friendship and show their talent. The annual International Day would make the campus more harmonious, beautiful, diverse and colorful.
This International Day consisted of 2 parts, world culture show and art performance, and took “a window of the world, a bridge for friendship” as its theme. Overseas students set up their exhibiting booths and showcased their national cultural essence by displaying their traditional ornaments, national costumes, handicrafts and food. On the stage, Chinese students played beautiful Chinese folk music while international students sang exotic songs with dances, winning the cheers and applauses of audiences.
Chinese and foreign students also did some interactive games. The exotic atmosphere, the wonderful art performances and delicacies from all over the world attracted many teachers and students. Every booth was crowded with people, joy and friendship.
