Prof. Yu Shicheng, Chairman of SMU University Council, Visited HK Shipping Agencies

From April 24 to 25, invited by the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA), Prof. Yu Shicheng, Chairman of SMU University Council, paid a visit to Hong Kong shipping companies and the Marine Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and delivered a keynote speech at the luncheon held by HKSOA.

On the afternoon of April 24, Prof. Yu Shicheng visited the China Merchants Group Limited and met with President Li Jianhong and Vice President Su Xingang. President Li expressed his support in deepening the industry-university-research cooperation between the two sides, and striving to achieve new breakthroughs in fields that interested both sides. Prof. Yu Shicheng said that SMU would further enhance the cooperation with China Merchants Group Limited and contribute more in personnel transporting and shipping research.

On the morning of April 25, Prof. Yu Shicheng visited the COSCO (Hong Kong) Group Co., Ltd and had a discussion with President Zhang Liang. They jointly attended the luncheon held by HKSOA, and exchanged views with the board members of HKSOA. Prof. Yu gave a keynote speech on the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center and the development of Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone.

In the afternoon, Prof. Yu Shicheng paid a visit to the Marine Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, exchanging opinions with Director Huang Weilun about conducting cooperation on shipping education and training between Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Prof. Yu Shicheng also paid a special visit to the new office building of China Shipping (H.K.) Holdings Co., Ltd, and met with Chairman Wang Daxiong, President Wu Changzheng and Director Lin Jianqing. They had an in-depth discussion on the future development of shipping market and the cultivation of senior talents in shipping industry.
