On April 19, the 6th SMU Open Day, with the slogan of “Lohas Campus, Sparked Dreams” was held at Lingang campus of SMU. Meanwhile, the opening ceremony of the event of “Hundred Days of Thousand Miles, Millions of People Running Together” and the Round-Zhihui-Lake Healthy Racing of “Lohas Campus” was also held in the same day.
As a brand event, the Open Day gave a comprehensive display of SMU’s centennial history of maritime higher education, school-running characteristics and university culture. On this day, SMU’s key and featured laboratories, including the Mulan Maritime Simulation Center, the Ship Model Room, the Port Simulation Laboratory, and the Scientific Experiencing Room are opened to the public. In addition, SMU offers the consultation service of its college enrollment and specialties at the Student Service Center, organizing senior professionals from different colleges and departments so as to provide on-site consultancy related to the admission and career development for college entrance examiners and their parents.
Moreover, SMU Maritime Festival, Kite Festival, Food Festival and International Culture Festival are also opened in the same day. A series of other wonderful activities, such as Boating on the Zhihui Lake, Students’ Group Performance, SMU Charity Auction, Students Society Garden Party and Traditional Chinese Music Performance fully exhibit the rich campus life. This event themed with Healthy Lifestyle of Students encourages the students to stay away from the internet, walk out of their dormitories and exercise in the outdoors, for being more involved in the public life and pursuing a healthier life.
