Prof. Li Lingxia was Appointed as Guest Professor of SMU and Lectured at SMU

On the afternoon of March 12, the Appointment Ceremony for Prof. Li Lingxia from Old Dominion University in America as Guest Professor was held at Taishan Research Building. Vice President of SMU, Mr. Wang Haiwei, heads of the Personnel Office and Scientific Research Academy, and teacher and student representatives attended the ceremony. President Huang Youfang warmly welcomed Prof. Li Lingxia, and they discussed on the academic research in logistics field and postgraduate international exchange.

Dean of the Scientific Research Academy, Prof. Chen Weijiong, made a welcome speech, he briefed on Prof. Li Lingxia’s life experience and academic achievements.

Vice President Wang Haiwei presented the letter of appointment of guest professor to Ms. Li Lingxia; Director of the Personnel Office, Mr. Huang Weizhong gave her the school badge.

Subsequently, Prof. Li Lingxia made a report entitled “Data Science—Study and Analysis of the Big Data” for the teachers and students of SMU. She introduced the background of big data age, demonstrated how to make decisions of supply chain with the help of large data, and analyzed the research direction and topic of large data. Prof. Li Lingxia also detailed on the international exchanges between Old Dominion University and SMU, gave some tips when studying in the US, and invited SMU postgraduates to study in Old Dominion University. The students and teachers present discussed and communicated with Prof. Li Lingxia actively.

Prof. Li Lingxia is the chief of Maritime and Logistics subjects in Old Dominion University, senior fellow of the Association for Operations Management (APICS), adjunct professor of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and External Deputy Dean of Logistics Institute in Beijing Jiaotong University (part-time). She has published 90 academic theses, 4 monographs, 2 encyclopedia articles, 2 case studies, 38 academic theses for international conference, and 14 introductions to international conferences. She has won a lot awards from universities and international associations, like the best paper award, outstanding achievement award, outstanding teaching award, outstanding public service award, outstanding academic leadership award and professor of leadership award, etc. Prof. Li Lingxia has been dedicated to promoting the academic exchanges between Old Dominion University and SMU since 2007.
