On the afternoon of February 27, the opening ceremony of 2014 Chinese Cruise Economy Symposium and the Global 1st Cruise EMBA was grandly held at the Lingang Campus of SMU.
Mr. Xiao Guiyu, Vice Secretary-general of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government affirmed SMU’s strategic planning in promoting the development of cruise economy and firstly building the cultivation platform for top talents of cruise industry throughout the country, and spoke highly of SMU’S practice about providing active services for Shanghai International Shipping Center’s emerging markets building by giving full play to the advantages of specialty characteristics. As one of nation or even global’s homeports that under construction, Shanghai will actively support the Cruise EMBA program.
Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU congratulated the opening of Cruise EMBA, he noted that cruise industry was either a representative industry of international city, or advanced manufacturing in modern services, developing cruise economy was consistent with Shanghai’s reform and Shanghai International Shipping Center’s construction. Cruise EMBA was an important expansion for SMU EMBA education system, which based on the frontier of international cruise industry. To all the prospective problems that Chinese cruise economy faced, Cruise EMBA endeavors to be a higher think tank for supporting the government’s efforts in boosting cruise economy, and pushes forward Chinese cruise industry integration with the world.
In the opening ceremony, Prof, Marc Mancini, famous lecturer of international tourism and Gong Lei, student representative respectively on behalf of teachers and students gave a speech. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU presented the class’ flag to the student representative.
