The Band in the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College Performed at SMU

On the night of January 13, the music exchanges between the Sunderman Conservatory of Music’s Band from Gettysburg College and the SMU Orchestra was held at Bangjian lecture hall. Following the lead of Prof. Janet Riggs, President of Gettysburg College and Prof. Kay Hoke, Executive Director of the Sunderman Conservatory of Music, the bands paid a visit to SMU and over 30 Gettysburg College China Alumni took part in this performance.

Under the command of Prof. Russell McCutcheon, the bands played a range of American classical music including Friendship across the Ocean, Battle of Gettysburg and Catch Me If You Can, while SMU Orchestra performed Martial Music Forever, Conquer the World and African Symphony under Mr. Ma Hua.

Subsequently, the two sides had in-depth exchange, and teachers from Gettysburg College spoke highly of SMU’s warm reception as well as the orchestra’s performance. Meanwhile, Prof. Janet Riggs welcomed SMU Orchestra to visit Gettysburg College and join the American symphony festival for university students.
