Prof. Yu Shicheng Attent the 30th Anniversary of World Maritime University

On November 23, the 30th Anniversary of World Maritime University (WMU) was held in Malm?, Sweden. Prof. Yu Shicheng, Chairman of SMU University Council was invited to attend the celebration.

In the event, Prof. Yu Shicheng had wide exchanges with IMO Secretary-General and WMU Chancellor Mr. Koji Sekimizu and WMU President Dr. Bj?rnKjerfve. He congratulated on the 30th anniversary of WMU as well as its remarkable achievements, expressed gratitude to WMU for the support and efforts in training teachers for SMU and eagerly anticipated the cooperation in the future. 

The World Maritime University (WMU) is a postgraduate maritime university founded in 1983 by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a specialized agency of the United Nations. It has so far cultivated more than 4,000 high-level maritime talents with bachelor degrees for the global shipping industry. From 1988, SMU has sent over 20 backbone teachers to study in WMU, who made outstanding contributions to SMU’s development after finishing study. Since 2003, the graduate class for international shipping and logistics, co-operated by SMU and WMU has trained nearly 300 students, continuous 8 rounds.

On November 24, Prof. Yu Shicheng attended WMU 2013 Graduation Ceremony; he extended congratulations to SMU teacherXieJieying on her successful graduation. During the ceremony, Prof. Yu Shicheng met with IMO Secretary-General and WMU Chancellor Mr. Koji Sekimizu, the former Secretary Mitropoulos couple as well as the Mayor of Malm? one after another, and introduced the cooperation situation between SMU and WMU to China Consul General in G?teborg, Sweden. 

During his visit, Prof. Yu Shicheng also paid a visit to Lauritzen Bulkers A/S located in Copenhagen, Denmark, and discussed with the leaders from Business Administration of Copenhagen Business College over the feasibility of collaboration in talent cultivation of shipping management.
