On the afternoon of June 21, 2013 SMU Graduation Ceremony was grandly held at the school gymnasium. Chairman，President and vice-presidents of SMU, principals of schools and departments, teacher representatives, alumni representatives, and all the 2013 undergraduates and parents got together to witness the sacred moment.
Prof. Yu Shicheng, President of SMU, on behalf of the whole staff of the university, addressed the ceremony. He expressed his warm congratulations and best wishes to the 2013 undergraduates who had successfully finished school and will set foot on the future. He also extended his sincere gratitude to all the parents and teachers who were always concerned with SMU’s development as well as the students’ growth.
Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU was studying in Beijing and unable to attend the ceremony. To express his wishes, Prof. Huang Youfang sent an inscription, which read “Sailing Far Away, Blowing China Dream”.
During the ceremony, 179 students who won the 2013 Shanghai Outstanding Graduates were commended and conferred the Bachelor’s degree certificates. The 2013 Undergraduates presented a colorful and spray-painted scroll with 5.5 meters length and 70 centimeters width to their Alma Mater, which recorded their 4-year college life.
