On June 12-13, the 4th Annual ICDBF (International Collegiate Dragon Boat Federation) Championship was hosted at Taiyuan, Shanxi province. 62 challenged teams from 22 countries, 42 universities, involving many world’s elite schools such as Harvard University entered the competition. SMU Dragon Boat Team won the 200-meter Men’s Straight Speed Race and 2000-meter Round Race both championships.
As an international top sports event, the ICDBF Championship is sponsored by International Collegiate Boat Federation and Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC). The three previous Championships were launched in Tianjin, California and Jiaxing of Zhejiang province, attracting more than 3,000,000 participants. The championship contained 200-meter straight race, 500-meter straight race and 2000-meter round race with separate divisions for Men’s group, Women’s group and Mixed group. More than 800 competitors across the world took part in the championship, hitting another historical high.
