On May 31, the Opening Ceremony of the 1st Advanced Post-Graduate Diploma Class on Shipping Finance jointly ran by World Maritime University (WMU) and SMU was held in Dongming campus of SMU.
Mr. Mashuo, Vice President of WMU delivered the welcoming speech. He expressed that WMU and SMU had a solid foundation for cooperation, and the Class aimed to cultivate a number of highly qualified talents who excelled at shipping finance, push forward the development of Shanghai International Financial Center, and satisfy the immediate requirements of qualified talents on international shipping finance in Shanghai, China or even the whole Asian market.
The Class, each term lasting 7 months, would be lectured by various experts, centering one topic for a month. All the curriculum design absorbed the ideas of London Shipping Education, aimed at developing professional abilities and adopted a brand-new teaching method of case-study. Besides, special lectures given by industry experts both inside and outside of China would be held regularly while they studied. The students were sifted and selected by multiple shipping and financial institutions such as COSCO (China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company), China Shipping (China Shipping (Group) Company) and SPD Bank (Shanghai Pudong Development Bank).
