On May 28, Prof. Sergii V. Rudenko, Vice Rector of Odessa National Maritime University along with another 2 guests paid a visit to SMU. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU and leaders of relative departments met with the guests.
Prof. Jin Yongxing gave a warm welcome to Prof. Rudenko, Vice Rector of Odessa National Maritime University (ONMU). He expressed that the friendly exchanges and partnership between SMU and ONMU started in the 1990s and the two sides renewed the framework agreement in 2008; SMU was looking forward to promoting the cooperation by taking this opportunity of Prof. Sergii V. Rudenko’s visit. Then he briefed on the development of SMU as well as the performance of internationalized education. SMU and ONMU shared highly similarities in discipline arrangement while owning respective advantages, so there must be considerable scope for collaboration with each other.
Prof. Rudenko introduced the running status and discipline construction of ONMU. He said his current visit was aimed to expand more areas in cooperation with SMU, pushing forward communication in the terms of students exchange, research collaboration and teachers exchange.
After negotiating the recent exchange and cooperation programs in detail, the two sides reached an agreement on conducting cooperation in the fields of exchange of teachers and students, jointly compiling a Maritime Chinese-Russian-English Dictionary, jointly training doctor’s degree, and the research field of cooperative programs for teachers. To supplement the framework agreement, the two sides signed memorandum of understanding (MOU).
During the visit, Prof. Rudenko also toured Maritime Simulation Center and COSTAMARE Engine Room Integrated Laboratory and was impressed deeply by the teaching facilities.
