The Opening Ceremony of the 3rd Danish Class was Held at SMU

On May 6, the opening ceremony of the 3rd Danish Class for Engine Watchkeeping and Basic Safety Training Program was held at SMU. Mr. Jan Runge, Professor of Danish Copenhagen Marine Engineer College, together with the other two teachers and 30 students from Copenhagen Marine Engineer College, relative leaders of Merchant Marine College and International Education College of SMU, training teachers and student volunteers attended the ceremony. 

Prof. Xiao Yingjie, Dean of SMU Merchant Marine College of SMU, addressed the welcome speech. He said that SMU had always kept a good partnership and exchange tradition with Denmark, and had maintained closer relations with Danish shipping enterprises, who hoped the training program would lay a solid foundation for the two sides making fresh progress in cooperation.   

Ms. Mao Ruibei, teacher of International Education College of SMU briefed on the development of SMU to the Danish students.

Teachers from Danish Copenhagen Marine Engineer College expressed their gratitude to SMU for the warm reception and detailed arrangement. They wished the training program would be crowned with complete success.

The 30 Danish students who attended the training class all came from the Copenhagen Marine Engineer College. The class would last for two weeks. Apart from having the Engine Watchkeeping and Basic Safety classes at Lingang new campus of SMU, the students would also go to the Pingwang Training Base to accept the lifeboat operation training. Besides, SMU would also organize numerous rich and colorful cultural activities for the Danish students and the students from SMU to facilitate the mutual-understanding between the youth.
