On April 20th, 2013, the SMU 5th Open Day was held on Lin Gang Campus. At the time the whole campus was open to all the public, to exhibit its beautiful campus, first-class teaching equipment and marine culture. The university also organized Dragon-boat Competition, Talent Show, Cuisine Festival, Music Show and a lot of other activities. Some of the university's laboratories was opned, too.
