On April 9, Mr. Rene LEGALL, Director of Polytech’ Nantes paid a visit to SMU. Prof. HuangYoufang, President of SMU, Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU as well asleaders of relative departments and colleges gave the guests a warm reception.
Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMUdelivered in his welcoming speech that a number of fruitful results had beenachieved since both sides established the friendly cooperative relationshipseven years ago. With the increasing exchange of teachers and students, heexpressed his hope that the two sides could expand partnership fields andstrengthen collaboration with each other.
Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMUbriefed on the international cooperation of SMU to the guests, and theyexchanged views on the accessible cooperation areas.
Mr. Rene LE GALL, Rector of Polytech’ Nantes said he was very pleasedto visit SMU again and to see the improvement of SMU in recent years. Then, heintroduced the development of Polytech’ Nantes,and revealed his expectation to enhance collaboration with SMU in the future.
During the visit, Mr. Rene LE GALL also hada discussion with SMU students who intended to study at Polytech’ Nantes for Master’sdegree, and he also provided guidance for them. There would be 12 postgraduatestudents of SMU who would go to Polytech’ Nantes for 2 years’ further study. After completing the 2 years’ period of study, theywould be able to receive joint degrees from both SMU and Polytech’ Nantes.
Polytech’ Nantes is the very first university devoted to cultivating engineers in France. It mainlyfocuses on training professionals in Thermology, Energetic, Materials Science,Electronic and Digital Electronic Technology, Electrical Engineering andComputer Information, And Civil Engineering, etc. Currently, the cooperativeprograms between SMU and Polytech’ Nantes include faculty exchanges and joint training programs of Master’s degreestudents.
