The Training Ship “Yu Ming” Welcomed the First Batch of Students for Graduation Practice

On the morning of March 13, the 48000-DWT training ship “Yu Ming” welcomed the first batch of students for graduation practice. 44 undergraduates majoring in Navigation, Marine Engineering and Ship Electrical and Electronic Engineering and 9 teaching staff went aboard the ship for the graduation practice. Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU, Prof. Yang Wanfeng, Vice President of SMU and leaders from relative departments and colleges gave the students a farewell ceremony.

Prof. Huang Youfang, President of SMU expressed his wishes for a smooth journey to the students on behalf of SMU. He pointed that the very first batch of students on Yu Ming made a historic moment of SMU history. He hoped that the teachers and students could carry forward the spirit of SMU people and start a new chapter of the vessel Yu Ming together with seamen from China Shipping Group.

Prof. Yang Wanfeng, Vice President of SMU pointed that graduation practice is one of the significant teaching practice parts for the students in Merchant Marine College. He asked the students to make full use of this opportunity to lay a solid foundation for the actual practice. He also told them to follow the arrangements of practicing department, keep a close cooperation with the seamen on vessel “Yu Ming” and pay attention to safety during the process of learning.
