Mr. Jan Van Der Borght, Guest Professor of SMU Donated an Ancient Ship Model to SMU

Recently, Mr. Jan Van Der Borght, Guest Professor of SMU and Representative of the Port of Antwerp in China donated an ancient ship model to SMU made in 1895. Prof. Yu Shicheng, Chairman of SMU University Council, Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU attended the donation ceremony.

Prof. Yu Shicheng, Chairman of SMU University Council received the model on behalf of SMU. He expressed his gratitude to Mr. Jan Van Der Borght for his contribution to the culture development of SMU. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU delivered a certificate of donation to Mr. Jan Van Der Borght.

The ship model donated is a Trade ship model of East India made in 1895 and used to be one of the private collections of Mr. Jan Van Der Borght. This kind of ship traveled between Europe and Far East in the middle of the seventeenth century for marine trades.
