On July 7th, Rt.Hon.Sir.Anerood.Jugnauth, President of the Republic of Mauritius, together with his wife visited SMU in the company of Ms. Bian Yanhua, Ambassador of China to Mauritius. Prof. Yu Shicheng, President of SMU，Prof. Kong Fancun, Vice President of SMU, Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU, as well as related departments gave them a warm reception.
Prof. Yu Shicheng, President of SMU extended his warm welcome to the guests. He expressed that the friendship between China and Mauritius had a long history, and the two countries had achieved plentiful fruits in mutual benefit cooperation. SMU had always devoted to developing itself into a world-class maritime university. Prof. Yu Shicheng expected that the cooperation between the two sides in fields of maritime education and training could be expanded after this visit.
Rt.Hon.Sir.Anerood.Jugnauth, President of the Republic of Mauritius, expressed his heart-felt gratitude for the warm reception of SMU. He pointed out that Mauritius is an island state, above 90% of its import and export materials were transported by sea. Thus he expected that the cooperation relationship between relevant maritime education and training institutions of Mauritius and SMU could be established as soon as possible.
