Recently, the 50th anniversary of China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO) was held grandly at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Mr. Dong Jianhua, Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC, Mr. Chen Jinhua, former Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC, Mr. Richard A.Lidinsky Jr., Chairman of US Federal Maritime Commission, foreign ambassadors and VIP guests from home and abroad attended the anniversary party.
Prof. Yu Shicheng, SMU President, Prof. Huang Youfang, Vice President and Prof. Cai Cunqiang, Vice President, were invited to attend the anniversary.Prof. Yu Shicheng met with SMU alumnus Mr. Li Zhenyu, General Manager of COSCO Hong Kong and Shen Zhen Ocean Transportation Co.Ltd. He extended congratulation to Mr. Li Zhenyu for the National Labor Medal he had just been awarded.
The COSCO, founded on April 27th, 1961, is a multinational enterprise focusing on the shipping and logistics businesses while providing global customers with quality ship building and repairing, marine engineering, terminal operation, trade, financial and IT services in addition to the shipping and logistics services. COSCO and SMU have built up a friendly cooperation relationship. From 2005, COSCO has found COSCO scholarship at SMU.
