SMU – KME Engine Watch Keeping and Basic Safety Training Program Starts at SMU

SMU is recently authorized by the Danish Maritime Authority to collaborate with Copenhagen Marine Engineer College (KME) on special trainings for KME engineering students.

On May 16, the first SMU – KME Engine Watch Keeping and Basic Safety Training Program was inaugurated at SMU. Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU, Associate Professor Jan Runge of KME, 23 Danish students and teaching staff of SMU Merchant Marine College attended the opening.

Prof. Jin Yongxing, expressed that SMU had good traditions of cooperation with Danish related institutes and shipping companies. This training program carved out a new pattern for further cooperation of both sides. Associate Professor Jan Runge expressed his gratitude for the warm reception offered by SMU. He hoped that this training would be a good start of the cooperation of two institutions.

The 23 KME students who come for the training program will be trainedat the Merchant Marine College of SMU for two weeks. The training program covers the courses of KME engine watch keeping, basic safety, fire safety, etc.
