2011 BIMCO Asia Shipping School

On April 11, 2011 BIMCO Asia Shipping School opened in SMU. 30 participants from shipping enterprises of various countries and regions in Europe and Asia attended the training course.

Prof. Jin Yongxing, Vice President of SMU extended his warm welcome to all the guests. Prof. Jin retrospected the cooperation between BIMCO and SMU and expressed his expectation to deeply strengthen the mutual understanding and collaboration between the two sides. 

Ms. Marianne Jorgensen Dumortier, BIMCO Education and BIMCO 39 Officer introduced the progress of BIMCO, and extended her sincere thanks to SMU for its extraordinary organization for this training course. Speakers were Captain Norman Lopez, Normarine Services Pty Ltd, Australia, Peter Murray, Chief Representative, Ince & Co Shanghai Office, Dr. Zou Junshan, Deputy General Manager, China shipping and Logistics, IMC Group and Prof. Ruan Wei, Dean of Continuing Education College, SMU. During the one-week training, trainees learned about the international shipping expertise in related fields, and had discussions on the latest developments of the international shipping market.

Founded in 1905, BIMCO one of the world's largest shipping organization with its headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is the second time that SMU worked as local organizer for BIMCO Asia Shipping School.
