On March 25, Shanghai-Hongkong International Maritime R&D and Communication Centre (SHK-IMRDCC) was grandly inaugurated. The inauguration ceremony of SHK-IMRDCC was one of the “Inauguration and Signing Ceremony for Major Projects in Promotion of Construction of Shanghai International Shipping and Finance Center” series of activities which were co-sponsored by Shanghai International Shipping Center Office, Shanghai Municipal Finance Service Office, Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration and Government of Hongkou District.
Mr. Shen Jun, Deputy Mayor of Shanghai, Prof. Huang Youfang, Vice President of SMU, Mr. Chen Zhenghao, Vice President of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU), Ms. Zhang Meizhu, Hong Kong Deputy Secretary for Transport and Housing Bureau and about 150 specialists from shipping and financial industry attended the ceremony on invitation.
Proposed by Mr. Cao Wenjin, Senior Chairman of IMC Group and under the strong support of Mr. Xu Zuyuan, Deputy Minister of Transport and Mr. Dong Jianhua, Vice-Chairman of the CPPCC, SHK-IMRDCC was jointly launched by Hong Kong Polytechnic University Library and IMC Frank Tsao Maritime R & D Center, Shanghai International Shipping Center. The establishment of SHK-IMRDCC played a crucial role in promoting the mutual development of Hong Kong and Shanghai, the exchange of the two places and the construction of an international shipping center.
